MZIMA EXPANDS NETWORK FOOTPRINT IN EQUINIX DATA CENTERS

IP Transit Provider Now Deployed in Five of Equinix's U.S. Internet Hubs

Foster City, CA and Los Angeles, CA - September 22, 2004 - Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, and Mzima Networks Inc., a leading next generation IP transit provider, today announced that Mzima has significantly expanded its relationship with Equinix and will begin offering its high performance IP services in Equinix's Dallas, Chicago and Washington, D.C. area Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) centers. The expansion completes Mzima's initial deployment plans within the U.S., complementing existing operations at Equinix's Los Angeles and Silicon Valley IBX centers.

Mzima offers high performance IP connectivity, including a fault-tolerant nationwide backbone network connecting to multiple Tier-1 carriers and numerous private peers. The company uses customized, proprietary software in combination with BGP4 routing to make on-the-fly routing decisions, constantly analyzing the many possible paths for network traffic. With a variety of possible routes to popular destinations, Mzima guarantees high performance and availability for mission-critical Internet applications.

To enhance its exchange of data, or "peering," with the aggregation of networks operating within Equinix's centers, Mzima is utilizing Equinix's GigE Exchange™ service in the five Equinix IBX centers. Peering is the fundamental process by which all Internet traffic - from email to video - is exchanged between the backbone networks that comprise the Internet. With Equinix GigE Exchange, Mzima can conveniently leverage the cost reduction and performance benefits of direct interconnection to the variety of networks at Equinix, including the all of the top tier IP backbone networks, through a central switching fabric managed by Equinix. The service has become a strategic element in the increasingly important peering infrastructure of many ISPs and content companies.

"Teaming up with Equinix is a win/win situation, as their global footprint and aggregation of the largest global networks enables us to develop our core infrastructure with one company," said Michael Dell'Anno, president of sales for Mzima Networks. "Further, this relationship also allows us to market our product offering nationally, expanding our potential customer base to the critical mass of networks and content companies participating in Equinix's Internet hubs."

"The expanded deployment of Mzima's infrastructure to Equinix's U.S. centers offers yet another network and managed services provider option for the community of IBX participants," said Margie Backaus, chief business officer of Equinix. "Similarly, Equinix offers Mzima significant new revenue opportunities while providing it with a national infrastructure for critical for network peering needs."
